Common Questions (and answers) from Prospective Clients
M&M Financial Consulting, Inc. is a leader in nationwide tax resolution and relief services. Our Tax Resolution System, developed since 2005, aims to educate and protect our clients while resolving and reducing their tax debts.
Since 2005 we’ve been fielding some of the same questions and concerns about M&M’s services from struggling taxpayers across the country. To get to the point, we’ve listed a few of the frequent questions and answers below.
Do You Outsource Your Tax Work?
NO! M&M has in-house tax teams headed by licensed Enrolled Agents. All tax resolution work is performed at our offices in Chicago, IL by M&M’s trained tax resolution professionals.
We continue to answer this question from potential clients on a daily basis. Many other tax companies out there will do whatever they can to win a sale. A common practice is to tell potential clients that other companies outsource their tax work. Well we don’t.
Do You Have Tax Attorneys?
NO! There is a common misconception out there that a taxpayer needs an attorney to represent them before the IRS or state taxing authorities. As you will find out below, this is not true. According to IRS form 2848, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative, page 2, part 2, you may have an Enrolled Agent represent you.
“c Enrolled Agent – enrolled as an agent by the Internal Revenue Service per the requirements of Circular 230.”
Furthermore, attorneys have certain ethical conflicts according to the American Bar Association (ABA) limiting their direct contact with prospective clients in person, via telephone, or real time electronic communication.
Another key reason is that attorneys are not always educated in tax unless it is there focus in school. Even CPA’s may not choose to focus on taxation. On the other hand, Enrolled Agents (EAs) specialize in taxation. We are licensed directly by the United States Treasury, while attorneys and CPAs are licensed by individual states. Additionally, M&M’s EAs are trained experts in the M&M Tax Resolution System. We also hold our EAs to a higher continuing education standard. Each year M&M EAs complete 30 credits of Continuing Professional Education compared to the IRS requirement of just 24.
What Exactly Is an Enrolled Agent?
Hailed as “America’s Tax Experts”, Enrolled Agents are the only federally licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and also have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS. The history of the Enrolled Agent starts in 1884 as a result of Civil War fallout.
What Is Your Fee?
M&M Financial charges its clients a flat fee. This means that we don’t charge by the hour. We don’t have any hidden costs. You tell us about your tax issue and based on the information you provide, we will quote you a fee to handle all of the work involved. It’s that simple. It’s in our contract.
Will You Explain Your $$ Back Guarantee?
Taken straight from M&M’s agreement, word for word – “Client may cancel this Agreement before 4pm (central time) on the 15th day following execution of this Agreement by both parties. To exercise the right to cancel, M&M must receive written notice from Client prior to such time. A 100% refund will be given if this Agreement is cancelled in accordance with the above terms. “
This means that if you tell us in writing that you would like to cancel our services within 15 days of hiring us, we’ll give you a full refund. Simple, no caveats or fine print. See it on our website.
